Latest News Facial reanimation surgery offers something to smile about Monday, March 29, 2021 Life-saving brain surgery to remove a dangerous tumor was inevitable for Dereck Moore, and complications from such a sensitive procedure were possible. When he awoke from the procedure with some facial paralysis, help was already on the way. Dr. Randall Jordan transferred a nerve from Moore’s calf to his face, making it possible for him to smile again. The fast-growing tumor, already the size of a softball, left the patient unable to open her mouth or eat. Today, she is cancer-free.
